About the role#
Generac is hiring engineering interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Wisconsin. You will work on projects involving electrical systems, controls engineering, embedded systems, or power electronics. Interns gain experience by contributing to product development and working alongside experienced mentors.
What you'll do#
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market.
- Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials.
- Specify functional requirements and test standard components.
- Evaluate designs for effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Develop and execute fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners, designers, and product specialists.
- Use CAD or CAE systems to produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and travel to other company facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor or master degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of sophomore year is preferred.
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
- Background in programming languages that communicate with electronic hardware.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
