About the role#
We are looking for a co-op student to join our team and learn the laboratory skills required for small molecule drug discovery. You will set up, run, and analyze biochemical and cell-based assays used to screen and characterize molecules in cancer biology. This role is designed to build foundational laboratory competency through hands-on experience.
What you'll do#
- Culture and maintain cancer cell lines for assay use.
- Prepare compound plates using reconstitution and serial dilution.
- Run luminescence and fluorescence assays on plate readers.
- Perform Western blot analysis for protein detection.
- Analyze and present data using Excel, GraphPad Prism, and PowerPoint.
- Maintain accurate and complete records in an electronic lab notebook.
- Communicate results within the team and collaborate with other Flagship companies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn hands-on laboratory techniques.
- Basic familiarity with lab safety practices and general science coursework.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written protocols precisely.
- Good organizational habits and clear communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team lab environment.
- Coursework or lab exposure to cell culture, biochemistry, or molecular biology.
- Familiarity with Excel and interest in oncology or small molecule drug discovery.
- No prior co-op or industry lab experience is required.
