About the role#
ProFound Therapeutics is seeking a motivated Co-Op to join the Computational Biology team. This position provides hands-on experience in the analysis and interpretation of large-scale human genetics and multi-omics data. You will work under the supervision of team members to support therapeutic target discovery and translational research. This role is open exclusively to current Northeastern University students.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and interpret large-scale human genetics and multi-omics datasets.
- Perform statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology analyses, including rare variant association studies using exome and sequencing data.
- Conduct expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) and protein quantitative trait locus (pQTL) analyses.
- Perform Transcriptome-Wide and Proteome-Wide Association Studies (TWAS/PWAS).
- Assist with single-cell RNA sequencing and other single-cell multi-omics analyses.
- Integrate genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and clinical data for proteogenomic analysis.
- Develop and implement reproducible bioinformatics pipelines and analytical workflows.
- Interpret and visualize scientific findings for reports and presentations to the scientific team.
- Review literature to contribute new ideas and methodologies.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
- Coursework or research experience working with biological or other large datasets.
- Working familiarity with at least one programming or statistical language, such as R or Python.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Preference is given to candidates with prior co-op experience, familiarity with Unix/command-line environments, version control like Git, or experience with high-performance computing.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Term: January 2027 to June 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week on-site.
- Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour.
