About the role#
Flagship Labs 103 (FL103) is developing a diagnostic platform to decode cellular dynamics through extracellular vesicles. Our Proteomics team is seeking a Co-Op to work alongside our scientists to support mass spectrometry-based assays. This position is open exclusively to current Northeastern University students.
What you'll do#
- Help develop, execute, and troubleshoot proteomics assays.
- Prepare and process samples derived from cell culture or human plasma.
- Support mass spectrometry-based sample preparation workflows, including protein extraction, digestion, and clean-up.
- Assist with LC-MS/MS sample handling and instrument runs.
- Support the analysis of MS-based proteomics data by organizing datasets and summarizing results.
- Maintain clear records in an electronic lab notebook and help refine laboratory protocols.
- Present progress and results during team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or Analytical Chemistry.
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology or biochemistry lab techniques from coursework or research.
- Ability to follow and adapt written protocols with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a small, collaborative team.
- A genuine interest in proteomics, protein biochemistry, or diagnostics.
- Preferred: Prior hands-on experience with mass spectrometry sample prep, mammalian cell culture, or handling human plasma.
- Preferred: Previous industry or academic research experience in a relevant lab setting.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Term: January 2027 to June 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week on-site.
- Compensation: $25-$35 per hour.
- Note: This is a short-term engagement not eligible for health and welfare benefits.
