About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship within the Construction Services Department at Webber. You will work on-site in Houston, Texas, providing support across five key areas: Concrete Paving, Barrier Wall, Precast Concrete, Asset Management, and Geotechnical departments. This role offers hands-on experience similar to an entry-level Construction Services Engineer, assisting directors, managers, and engineers with project planning, execution, and tracking.
What you'll do#
- Organize and distribute project information regarding costs, schedules, and policies.
- Coordinate with project teams on construction activities, including scheduling and cost tracking.
- Assist with estimating, pre-bid production, and pricing.
- Create and maintain project logs and monthly reports.
- Perform takeoffs and calculate pricing for contracts and purchase orders.
- Schedule material deliveries such as aggregates, mesh, and shotcrete.
- Support quality control compliance and field operations, including crew coordination.
- Collect pavement surface data and assist with grinding operations.
- Interpret safety rules, procedure manuals, and construction plans.
- Write reports and present information to project teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program for Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Understanding of construction math concepts.
- Manual dexterity to handle items and work with tools.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in a field-based construction environment.
