About the role#
GEI Consultants is looking for a Construction Technician Intern to join our team in Marquette, Michigan. You will work alongside engineers, contractors, and public works personnel to support infrastructure projects. This position involves both field and laboratory work, requiring travel to various project sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation and documentation.
- Provide materials testing services.
- Collect data for infrastructure projects.
- Describe and classify soil samples.
- Conduct field and laboratory tests on soil and concrete.
- Report daily progress and any field issues to your supervisor.
- Travel to project sites, including overnight stays as needed.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma is required.
- You should be pursuing a BS degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geology Engineering, or a related field. An AS degree in Engineering Technology is preferred.
- Previous experience in a construction inspection and testing capacity, specifically with soils, concrete, and bituminous paving.
- Excellent organizational skills and a valid driver license.
- A willingness to travel.
- Certifications from ACI or the State of Michigan are highly desired.
- Experience using AutoCAD and surveying equipment is preferred.
