About the role#
GEI Consultants is hiring an Intern for our Marquette, Michigan office. This role involves performing a variety of engineering technician duties while working alongside engineers, contractors, and public works personnel. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation and documentation.
- Provide materials testing services and collect data for infrastructure projects.
- Describe and classify soil samples.
- Conduct field and laboratory tests on soil and concrete.
- Report daily progress and field issues to your supervisor.
- Travel to project sites, which may include overnight stays.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma is required. An AS degree in Engineering Technology or current pursuit of a BS degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geology, or a related engineering field is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in construction inspection and testing, specifically with soils, concrete, and bituminous paving.
- Excellent organizational skills and a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel.
- ACI or State of Michigan certifications are highly desired.
- Experience with AutoCad and surveying equipment is a plus.
