About the role#
GEI Consultants is looking for a co-op student to join the Woburn office for the Winter 2027 term. This position runs for approximately six months, from January through June. You will work on projects involving buildings, infrastructure, transportation, dams, levees, and waterfront development. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience while working alongside senior staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engineering analyses and design.
- Perform laboratory testing of soil samples.
- Observe soil borings and log soil and rock samples.
- Monitor construction activities, including pile driving and footing construction.
- Perform computations and prepare spreadsheets.
- Create and edit drawings using AutoCad.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals and reports.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Course work in soil mechanics or foundations is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in the field at active construction sites year-round, including in inclement weather.
- Willingness to travel on temporary assignments when necessary.
