    About the role#

    The Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York manages the balance sheet of the Federal Reserve System and monitors global financial market developments. As a graduate intern, you will contribute to project-based work and gain insight into the operations of a central bank. This is a full-time, paid summer internship lasting ten weeks.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze global and domestic financial market developments through dedicated projects.
    • Support senior staff by performing economic and financial market data analysis.
    • Prepare documentation, including tables, charts, and graphs, to assist with market monitoring.
    • Conduct preliminary research on foreign and domestic market issues.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a graduate program with a focus on Economics, Finance, Data Science, or Mathematics.
    • Quantitative analysis skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools like SQL.
    • Academic exposure to international and domestic capital markets and instruments.
    • Experience preparing and visually representing data for reports using tools such as Excel or Tableau.
    • A strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in economics, public policy, or finance.
    • Programming experience in languages such as Python or R is considered a plus.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based on-site in New York, New York.
    • The internship takes place during the summer of 2027.
    • Candidates are expected to graduate between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028.
    • Access to sensitive information requires specific citizenship or residency status as defined by federal regulations.
