About the role#
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking a Graduate Intern for the Regional and Community Outreach department. This role supports data analysis projects focused on community development research and financial inclusion in low and moderate income communities. This is a part-time, paid internship running from September 2026 through May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with team members to develop and evaluate options for enhancing existing data analysis and visualization.
- Conduct literature reviews on relevant methodologies, data sources, and analytical approaches.
- Assist with data collection, cleaning, and management from multiple publicly available surveys and datasets.
- Support the development and implementation of quantitative models, including statistical estimation, forecasting, and clustering.
- Perform geospatial analysis to identify regional patterns and trends.
- Create data visualizations and contribute to interactive dashboards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in economics, public policy, statistics, data science, or a related field.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, supported by coursework in statistics and data analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one statistical software package, such as R or Python.
- Experience with data visualization tools, specifically Tableau.
- Experience with data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis of large datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Modality: This position is primarily on-site, and the individual is expected to reside in the First District.
