About the role#
The Research & Statistics Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York offers a 10-week summer internship for undergraduate sophomores. This program provides hands-on experience in policy-oriented academic research. You will work directly with economists and research associates to support the Bank's mission regarding monetary policy, banking supervision, and financial system stability. Interns join a cohort-based learning program that includes professional development, networking with senior leaders, and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Assist economists and research associates with current public policy analysis and long-term academic research projects.
- Conduct econometric analyses for Bank publications and academic journals.
- Provide concise, articulate, and insightful economic analysis in both written and verbal formats.
- Collaborate with other students and employees across the Bank to complete project-based assignments.
- Participate in professional development activities and learning events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate sophomore with an expected graduation date between Winter 2028 and Spring 2029.
- A strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in economics, public policy, mathematics, statistics, finance, or business administration.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical packages, such as R, Stata, Matlab, Julia, SAS, or similar tools.
- Experience with computer programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to synthesize and explain complex information.
