About the role#
The Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York manages the balance sheet of the Federal Reserve System, monitors financial market developments, and supports U.S. Treasury debt management. This 10-week summer internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to contribute to this mission through project-based work. Interns work within specific units such as Capital Markets, Money Markets, or International Markets and receive support from an experienced professional mentor.
What you'll do#
- Prepare charts, tables, graphs, and other documentation for research and market analysis.
- Support senior staff with the analysis of economic and financial data.
- Help execute funds, securities, trading, and settlement activities.
- Prepare and maintain preliminary internal reports and perform data entry of operations results.
- Test the implementation of new products.
What you'll need#
- A strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in economics, finance, public policy, or financial markets.
- Quantitative analysis skills and experience using spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools.
- Academic exposure to international and domestic capital markets, financial instruments, and U.S. monetary policy.
- Ability to source, prepare, and visually represent data for written reports.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R is a plus.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship with an annual salary of $72,100.
- Eligibility: This role requires access to confidential supervisory information and Federal Open Market Committee information, which is restricted to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who meet specific legal requirements.
