About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain industry experience while conducting research on systemic barriers to mortgages for Indigenous peoples. You will work within the Mortgage Services department on a rotational basis to understand the responsibilities of various units and contribute to initiatives that help the bank better serve Indigenous communities.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on systemic barriers to mortgages for Indigenous peoples and draw on lived experiences to bring awareness to these issues.
- Develop and deliver a final paper or report containing findings and recommendations.
- Rotate across various teams within Mortgage Services to understand their functions and key responsibilities.
- Support business group initiatives, assist with day-to-day operations, and contribute to project-based tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements.
- Participate in meetings and contribute insights relevant to team objectives.
What you'll need#
- An Indigenous student currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a college, university, or equivalent program.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to source research ethically and ensure proper citation practices.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Business and financial knowledge is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, with the possibility of being fully remote.
- The internship follows a rolling term and is a full-time, paid position.
