About the role#
The Quality Technician Co-op assists with inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies, and finished products. You will use standard physical, mechanical, and electrical measurements to ensure components meet defined criteria. This position involves collaborating with production management and the quality team to maintain high standards and provide feedback on procedure accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines, laser trackers, and portable measuring arms.
- Inspect welded joints for dimensions, bead formation, and visible defects.
- Work with Quality Engineers and the Quality Manager to identify best practices for the manufacturing floor.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data to prepare reports and make recommendations.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement programs for production processes.
- Approve incoming materials by conducting visual and measurement tests.
- Document inspection results in logs and quality databases.
- Assist in updating inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program for QA/QC or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of measurement instruments.
- Strong arithmetic skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Capability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
