About the role#
Dayforce is looking for a Product Engineer Intern to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on our proprietary data visualization platform, which helps large enterprise customers understand complex organizational structures. This role involves hands-on software engineering, including the use of AI-driven development tools, to build secure and scalable solutions for our users.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze business requirements to create detailed technical specifications.
- Design and implement data, process, and network models to optimize system architecture.
- Build modern cross-platform applications using current frameworks and tools.
- Develop and maintain multi-level caching systems and graph-based data structures.
- Architect features for Enterprise Resource Planning, including job architectures and personnel planning.
- Perform performance tuning for big data and visualization workloads.
- Collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams to deliver projects.
- Implement security measures to ensure compliance with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 standards.
- Provide code reviews and technical guidance to team members.
- Document system designs and maintenance procedures.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or higher program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with data visualization for large or complex datasets.
- Proficiency in software design, architecture, and AI-driven software development.
- Experience with modern web application development, including front-end frameworks, Node.js, Python, and Postgres DB.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization libraries and performance optimization techniques like virtualization or occlusion culling.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud environments, and back-end service integration.
- Strong understanding of software testing, debugging, and caching layers.
- Knowledge of graph-based data structures and context-aware prompt engineering.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (three days per week in the Toronto office).
- Term: Winter 2027 (4 or 8 months).
- Availability: Full-time (37.5 to 40 hours weekly) is required.
