About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining an overview of store and district operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy team workflows and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowed by law.
- Maintain communication with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as permitted by state regulation.
- Perform inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or progress toward obtaining, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus to concentrate on tasks and ensure prescription accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends and travel to different store locations as needed.
