About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, safe care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and restocking.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
