About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, you will support our pharmacy operations by preparing medications and managing inventory. This role involves working directly with pharmacists to ensure safe and accurate medication distribution for our inpatients, outpatients, and employees.
What you'll do#
- Prepare medications and fill unit dose cassettes for dispensing.
- Ensure every transaction is verified by a pharmacist before it is released.
- Prepackage and label medications while maintaining accurate records of these tasks.
- Audit controlled substance records and ensure compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage controlled substance inventory, including processing returns and receiving new product.
- Advise nursing and pharmacy managers regarding discrepancies and assist in their resolution.
- Maintain organized files for completed controlled drug records and receipts.
- Issue controlled substances and prescription pads according to departmental policy.
- Keep an accurate, current census for all assigned areas.
What you'll need#
- A valid NYS Pharmacy intern permit.
- Completion of at least three years at an accredited college of pharmacy.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
- Previous hospital experience or completion of a Technician Training Program is preferred.
