About the role#
The Student Nurse Intern (TEMP) position provides nursing students the opportunity to expand their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills through supervised patient care. This role is designed for students who have completed their first clinical year in a baccalaureate nursing program, including medical-surgical rotations, and are looking to apply their training in a professional hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Perform and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, pulse oximetry, and pain ratings.
- Document clinical data in manual or computer systems as assigned.
- Execute clinical procedures such as specimen collection, venipuncture, EKG, capillary blood glucose monitoring, and the application of sequential compression sleeves.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and toileting.
- Maintain skin integrity and provide post-mortem care.
- Transport patients via stretchers or wheelchairs as required.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first clinical year in an accredited baccalaureate Nursing program, with experience in a medical-surgical rotation.
- A grade point average of 3.5 or above.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Satisfactory recommendations from nursing faculty.
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
