The Student Nurse Intern (TEMP) position offers nursing students the opportunity to expand their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills through supervised patient care. This role is designed for students who have completed their first clinical year in an accredited baccalaureate nursing program and are looking to apply their learning in a professional hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Perform and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, pulse oximetry, and pain ratings.
- Document clinical data in manual or computer-based systems.
- Carry out clinical procedures such as specimen collection, venipuncture, EKG, capillary blood glucose monitoring, and the application of sequential compression sleeves.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and toileting.
- Support post-mortem care and maintain skin integrity.
- Transport patients via stretchers or wheelchairs as needed.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first clinical year in an accredited baccalaureate Nursing program, including a medical-surgical rotation.
- A minimum grade point average of 3.5.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
- Satisfactory recommendations from nursing faculty.
