About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work in the pharmacy department to support daily operations and provide customer service. You will help maintain a safe, clean environment and ensure that customers feel welcome and valued. This role involves working under the supervision of a pharmacist to deliver care and manage pharmacy tasks.
What you'll do#
- Input patient and prescription data into the computer system.
- Accept and interpret prescriptions for fill or refill requests.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Recommend over-the-counter medications.
- Administer immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate customer purchases.
- Bag and deliver prescriptions to customers.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain cleanliness within the department.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Promote a respectful environment for associates and customers.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek help when necessary.
- Experience or comfort interacting with minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
