About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store and regional operations. This role focuses on helping you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathy, fielding medical questions, and providing counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowed by law.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Comply with all company policies, federal, state, and local laws regarding patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframes.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and problem-resolution skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting up to 20 lbs.
