About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern supports the Mechanical Operations department. This is a 12-month paid internship based in Jacksonville, Florida. You will manage asset utilization and repair projects across the CSX network while focusing on equipment reliability and data analytics. The program includes full-time hours during the summer and flexible scheduling during the academic year.
What you'll do#
- Review, design, and implement analytics platforms to monitor mechanical car reliability, repair, and production.
- Partner with the Facilities, Mechanical Car, Locomotive, and Transportation departments to support the network.
- Manage multiple asset utilization and repair projects.
- Utilize technology reporting tools to analyze mechanical equipment performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Logistics, or a related major.
- A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience with analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, or Python is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site at the CSX headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.
- The internship is a full-time commitment during the summer months.
- Eligible interns may receive complimentary housing for the duration of the program.
- The role requires 10 percent travel.
