About the role#
This co-op position supports the Application Development Group within the Engineering Plastics business at Covestro. You will work in our Pittsburgh labs to test plastic parts and assist with design projects. The program provides assignments that grow in complexity as you gain experience.
What you'll do#
- Prepare CAD models for CAE analysis.
- Run structural, CFD, and mold filling simulations.
- Test mechanical and thermal properties of parts and samples.
- Support injection molding and processing studies.
- Create design concepts using CAD software.
- Prepare reports and presentations to support marketing efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Material Science, or Plastics Engineering.
- Completion of your freshman year of college.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Participation in a college co-op program.
- Hands-on mechanical skills.
- Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks, structural analysis, and thermal analysis concepts.
- Experience with laboratory testing equipment.
