About the role#
As a Security Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience within a large enterprise cybersecurity program. You will work alongside experienced team members to build a foundation in modern security practices. Each intern is paired with a dedicated mentor to support technical development and career growth throughout the 10-week program.
What you'll do#
- Develop a working prototype to solve a specific cybersecurity challenge.
- Perform cybersecurity operations, including responding to alerts, analyzing findings, and tuning security controls.
- Assist in ongoing cybersecurity projects to build technical skills.
- Explore areas such as vulnerability management, endpoint security, threat detection, and AI security.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a comparable major.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028, with plans to return to school after the internship.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Availability for the full 10-week, 40-hour work week summer program.
- Coursework or experience in cybersecurity, networking, operating systems, cloud computing, scripting, or automation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through personal projects, clubs, competitions, or research.
- Exposure to scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, networking, or cloud environments.
- Security certifications such as Security+, Network+, or CySA+ are a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Arlington, Virginia.
- Modality: Hybrid (in office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Friday).
- Compensation: $40 - $45 per hour.
- Note: This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
