About the role#
We are seeking a Security Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. You will gain hands-on experience in a large enterprise cybersecurity program, covering areas such as vulnerability management, endpoint security, threat detection, and security controls. Each intern is paired with a dedicated mentor to support technical development and career growth throughout the 10-week program.
What you'll do#
- Develop a working prototype to solve a specific cybersecurity challenge.
- Perform cybersecurity operations, including responding to alerts, analyzing findings, and tuning controls.
- Assist in a cybersecurity project while learning from experienced team members to build a foundation in modern security practices.
- Explore various technologies, including vulnerability scanning, security monitoring, incident response, and cloud security.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a comparable major.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Planning to return to school following the completion of the internship.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through personal endeavors, projects, or research.
- Coursework or experience in networking, operating systems, cloud computing, scripting, automation, or system administration.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Availability to participate in the full 10-week program and commit to a 40-hour work week.
Location & details#
- Location: Richmond, Virginia.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (Monday to Thursday in office, with the option to work from home on Fridays).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $40 - $45 per hour.
