About the role#
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to join our Hardware Systems Engineering team in Sunnyvale, California. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, manufacturing, and software. You will work with a team that characterizes and qualifies camera and LiDAR components, evaluates suppliers, and builds the analysis infrastructure that turns raw sensor data into actionable product decisions. You will be paired with a dedicated mentor to support your technical development throughout the 10-week summer program.
What you'll do#
- Work with real sensor data, including imaging, depth, LiDAR, or test-bench measurements, to build models, tools, and analysis pipelines.
- Help develop and improve methods for analyzing optical, calibration, and reliability test data.
- Prototype approaches to problems such as anomaly detection, signal processing, calibration modeling, and automated data quality checks.
- Collaborate with hardware, test, and software engineers to understand technical problems.
- Document your approach and present findings to the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Robotics, or a comparable major.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Must be planning to return to school following the completion of the Summer 2027 internship.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for machine learning or data work, such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.
- Coursework, project, internship, or work experience applying machine learning, statistics, or applied data analysis.
- Comfortable working with real-world, imperfect data.

- Location: Sunnyvale, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-week program).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40-hour work week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $40 to $45 per hour.
