About the role#
This Nurse Intern position supports the Orthopedics and Neurology unit at Flowers Hospital. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist with patient care tasks and gain hands-on clinical experience. This role is designed for students who want to develop their skills in a 26-bed unit that focuses on post-operative recovery for joint replacements and neurosurgical patients.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care including vital signs, hygiene, and comfort measures.
- Perform hourly rounding to interact with patients and support their healing process.
- Communicate changes in patient conditions to the care team and participate in shift reports.
- Document all tasks and observations accurately.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized.
- Assist with the maintenance and storage of medical equipment like glucometers and bladder scanners.
- Ask questions and seek feedback from the nursing staff to grow your clinical abilities.
- Uphold customer service standards with patients and their families.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals, health assessment, and pharmacology.
- 0-1 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- CPR certification from the AHA, ARC, or ASHI.
- A basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to a safe patient environment.
