Nurse Intern Emergency Department

About the role#

The Nurse Intern supports patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position focuses on hands-on learning and assisting with essential care tasks to foster a therapeutic environment for patients and their families.

What you'll do#

• Provide basic patient care within your scope of practice, including vital sign monitoring, hygiene assistance, and patient comfort measures.
• Communicate effectively with the care team by participating in handoffs, reporting changes in patient conditions, and joining bedside shift reports.
• Develop clinical skills by asking questions, seeking feedback, and applying evidence-based practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including patient rooms and shared workspaces, to meet safety and compliance standards.
• Assist with basic equipment maintenance and ensure proper cleaning and storage of patient care tools.
• Perform hourly rounding and engage in purposeful patient interactions to support the healing process.
• Document tasks and observations clearly and accurately in accordance with facility policies.
• Uphold excellent customer service relations with patients and families.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
• Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
• 0-1 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card required for Skilled Nursing.
• Basic understanding of patient care procedures and medical terminology.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
