Broadcast Studio Student Assistants

About the role#

The Broadcast Studio Student Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Chatham University Broadcast Studio. This role involves assisting students, faculty, and staff with the rental and use of film, television, and production equipment. It is designed for students who are organized and interested in gaining hands-on experience in a professional studio environment.

What you'll do#

• Manage the check-in and check-out process for broadcast equipment using rental software.
• Provide customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
• Track, document, and coordinate repairs for damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
• Conduct inventory and assist with general equipment upkeep.
• Maintain studio cleanliness and organization to ensure the space is ready for classes and projects.
• Enforce studio policies and procedures.
• Perform light administrative tasks as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with peers, faculty, and staff.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
• An interest in film, television, or technology is helpful but not required.

• Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Term: Rolling.
• Compensation: This is an unpaid position.
• Eligibility: Open to students in Communications, Media Studies, Graphic Design, Business Administration, or Psychology. Student employees may not work more than 20 hours per week combined across all campus jobs and may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.
