About the role#
This Federal Work Study position offers hands-on experience in live esports broadcast production. You will report to the Esports Director and support ArtU Esports streams. This role focuses on developing skills in hosting, casting, and content creation while collaborating with production staff.
What you'll do#
- Host and cast ArtU Esports matches, tournaments, and events.
- Develop and present short-form content for social media, including player interviews and team features.
- Collaborate with production staff and other student roles to brainstorm and produce content.
- Prepare for broadcasts by researching teams, players, and match information.
- Practice play-by-play and color commentary, as well as hosting and interviewing techniques.
- Participate in rehearsals and production meetings.
- Review previous broadcasts to incorporate feedback and improve your presentation skills.
- Adapt your presentation style for different formats like live broadcasts, interviews, and short videos.
What you'll need#
- An interest in esports broadcasting, casting, hosting, journalism, communications, or content creation.
- Comfort speaking in front of an audience, camera, or microphone.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and stay composed during live broadcasts.
- A willingness to research games and competitions.
- Receptivity to instruction and ongoing feedback.
- Ability to attend some evening or weekend events.
- Enrollment in majors such as Communications or Media Studies is relevant to this role.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Pay: $19.61 per hour.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, with no conflicts with your class schedule.
- Term: Rolling basis from your starting term through graduation.
