About the role#
This position offers hands-on experience in live esports broadcast production. You will work on-site and report to the Esports Director to support ArtU Esports streams. You will learn key production areas including producing, game observation, stream operation, and broadcast setup. This role helps you develop technical and organizational skills while collaborating with broadcast talent.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning and producing social media content, including recurring segments, player features, and short-form content.
- Support the technical setup and recording of interviews, gameplay content, and other productions.
- Collaborate with broadcast talent and the video editor or photographer to deliver content.
- Learn the fundamentals of esports broadcast production through hands-on experience during program streams.
- Assist with live broadcasts, including game observation, stream operation, and general production support.
- Develop experience using OBS and other broadcast tools, such as scenes, overlays, audio, and graphics.
- Practice game observation by identifying and capturing important moments during live gameplay.
- Assist with pre-stream preparation, including checking game feeds, audio, graphics, and capture devices.
- Support the producer and broadcast team with transitions and graphics during live shows.
- Learn basic troubleshooting techniques for streaming, audio, and capture issues.
- Participate in production rehearsals and receive feedback to improve technical skills.
- Assist with Twitch broadcasts and archived stream content as needed.
What you'll need#
- An interest in esports broadcasting, livestreaming, content creation, or live production.
- A desire to learn roles such as producer, game observer, and broadcast operator.
- Familiarity with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, or Twitch is helpful but not required.
- A willingness to learn new production software, equipment, and workflows.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students and program staff.
- Ability to stay focused and organized during live events.
- Receptiveness to instruction, feedback, and continued learning.
- Reliability to attend scheduled broadcasts, which may include some evenings or weekends.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and team-based environments.
- A general interest in games and esports.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, not conflicting with class schedules.
- Compensation: $19.61 per hour.
- Employment term: Rolling, from your starting term through graduation.
