About the role#
The Federal Work Study Library Aide supports the daily operations of the Architecture Collection. This role provides public service to students, faculty, and staff, managing the circulation desk and assisting with library resources. You will work on-site in San Francisco.
What you'll do#
- Manage library operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Check materials in and out and maintain shelf organization.
- Register borrowers and update patron records.
- Assist patrons with reserve materials and explain circulation policies.
- Use the Sierra integrated library system for clerical tasks.
- Troubleshoot library equipment like computers, copiers, and printers.
- Help patrons with software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop.
- Create marketing materials like flyers and posters for the library calendar.
- Complete inventory and shelving projects.
What you'll need#
- Current status as an Architecture or Landscape Architecture major.
- Sophomore standing or above is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn library organization.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Location & details#
- Location: 180 New Montgomery, San Francisco, CA.
- Employment: Part-time, Federal Work Study.
- Schedule: 1 to 3 shifts per week, up to 20 hours total. Shifts are available Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- Pay: $19.61 per hour.
- Term: Rolling, from the start of your term through graduation.
