About the role#
Reading Partners is looking for Federal Work Study students to serve as Literacy Intervention Tutors. You will provide one-on-one reading support to elementary school students who are reading below grade level. This role helps students build foundational skills through a structured, evidence-based curriculum. You will work with students in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles communities.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one literacy tutoring to elementary students.
- Follow a structured, scripted curriculum.
- Track student progress using provided tools.
- Complete routine check-ins with a Reading Partners team member.
- Perform administrative duties as needed.
- Attend required orientation and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Eligibility for Federal Work Study.
- Consistent availability Monday through Thursday between 8am and 5pm.
- Commitment to your students and the tutoring schedule.
- Patience, empathy, and an interest in working with diverse student populations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- A willingness to learn and receive coaching.
- Access to reliable Wi-Fi and a computer (PC, Mac, or Chromebook) with a functioning webcam, microphone, and headphones.
- Ability to pass a Live scan Background Check and abide by the Tutor Code of Conduct.
Location & details#
- This role is available in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California.
- Work modality includes both remote and on-site options.
- This is a part-time, paid position for up to 20 hours per week.
