About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within our forensic accounting and litigation team during the summer of 2027. You will gain practical experience in accounting frameworks, tax law, and audit methodologies as they apply to legal and investigative environments. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Laguna Niguel, California.
What you'll do#
- Review and summarize federal and state tax returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Assist with preliminary valuation, forensic, and appraisal analyses, including data input for expert witness exhibits.
- Work with the discovery team to inventory and reconcile documents for submission to attorneys, courts, and clients.
- Communicate with internal team members and external clients to maintain strong working relationships.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to daily tasks, while knowing when to seek guidance from senior staff.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct and client confidentiality.
- Utilize technology including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a preference for students pursuing a Master's degree or planning to achieve CPA eligibility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various levels of an organization.
- Ability to multi-task and think independently in a team environment.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and internal software.
- Relevant academic, work, or internship experience in accounting, auditing, or forensic services is preferred.
- Active participation in student organizations is considered a plus.
