About the role#
This position offers hands-on experience in exploration or mining geology. You will work with geologists on development projects, in the core lab, or at an active mine site. You will analyze subsurface formations, review core data, and apply technical knowledge to practical workflows. This is a paid, full-time role available for terms starting in January, May, or September 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze geological data and interpret subsurface formations.
- Prepare regional interpretations and mapping for prospective geologic formations.
- Review and describe core from formations of interest to understand depositional environments.
- Support active mining operations and validate geological models.
- Communicate findings to the asset team and management through project presentations.
- Assist with drilling program planning, government applications, and evaluation of bypassed pay.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Geology, or recent graduation from an accredited institution.
- Physical and mental fitness for work.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out-of-province license, where required by the assignment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening test, where required by the assignment.
- Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
Location & details#
- Locations include Calgary, Alberta (Head Office) or Fort McMurray, Alberta (Horizon or Albian Sands).
- Calgary shifts are 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday).
- Oilsands shifts are 4 days on, 3 days off (Monday to Thursday).
- Term lengths are 4 or 8 months.
