About the role#
This 16-month student opportunity offers a blend of field and office experience. You will begin with a four-month placement at a field location, gaining practical experience through relief operating and field engineering assignments. You will then transition to the Calgary office to support Conventional or Thermal teams in Facilities, Production, or Exploitation Engineering. This role is a safety-sensitive position.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to a strong safety culture by completing hazard assessments and conducting worksite safety observations.
- Gain hands-on experience supporting conventional oil and gas operations, including light oil, heavy oil, gas, and thermal facilities.
- Monitor, inspect, and troubleshoot production equipment and systems.
- Develop practical knowledge of recovery methods, including water floods, Enhanced Oil Recovery, and various pumping systems.
- Participate in Process Hazard Assessments, risk assessments, and other safety reviews.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production and reliability.
- Assist with project gate processes and the execution of operational and capital projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum engineering (other engineering disciplines will be considered).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent.
- Previous field experience is an asset.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for work.

- Locations: Various field locations in Alberta, Northern BC, or Saskatchewan, followed by the Calgary, AB head office.
