About the role#
This position supports the Upgrading and Utilities or Bitumen Production Engineering teams at the Horizon or Albian Oil Sands sites. You will work on-site to assist with operations, maintenance, and construction tasks. This is a paid, full-time internship for Electrical Engineering students.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project and operations teams to align with site requirements.
- Review assets and data to improve equipment uptime and maintenance frequency.
- Assist engineers in producing maintenance work packages.
- Gather field measurements and data.
- Check designs executed by engineering contractors.
- Evaluate equipment purchase specifications.
- Develop engineering drawings and construction work packages.
- Create Electric Heat Tracing designs.
- Maintain project deliverables like Lessons Learned Logs and technical requests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or within one year of graduation.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent.
- Ability to drive work trucks safely.
- Previous engineering or field experience is an asset.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10-hour shifts (Monday through Thursday).
- Terms: Summer 2027 or Fall 2027 start dates available.
- Duration: 8 or 12 months.
