About the role#
This 16-week co-op position is based at the bp refinery in Whiting, Indiana. You will support the largest refinery in the Midwest, which processes approximately 440,000 barrels of crude oil daily. This role offers the chance to apply engineering principles to real-world production assets while working alongside experienced teams.
What you'll do#
- Directly interface with Operations to support key production assets.
- Apply chemical engineering fundamentals including heat transfer, hydraulics, and separation.
- Provide technical support through projects that improve reliability, safety, commercial, and environmental aspects of the business.
- Design projects and supervise plant development to support refining technologies.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without restrictions. Note that bp does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
- Availability to start the 16-week program for the Fall 2027 term.
