About the role#
As a Materials Integrity or Machinery Engineering student, you will work alongside experienced professionals to analyze inspection data and operating conditions. Your work focuses on improving the integrity of piping and equipment while identifying cost-effective materials and determining root causes for corrosion-related failures. You will contribute to projects that drive business results while gaining exposure to the daily responsibilities of full-time engineers.
What you'll do#
- Review critical process data to determine effects on equipment and piping.
- Develop and manage corrosion control programs and mitigation plans.
- Assess novel materials for viability with subject matter experts.
- Identify degradation modes and parameters for risk assessments and RBI strategies.
- Estimate failure probabilities for various degradation modes.
- Review erosion and corrosion rates to recommend follow-up actions.
- Define equipment operating envelopes to minimize corrosion.
- Evaluate site changes and their impact on materials degradation and inspection.
- Establish piping circuits and assign EDDs.
- Optimize current TML locations and inspection frequencies.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to support the machinery program.
- Perform surveillance of machinery operating performance.
- Provide machinery input for change events and interface with vendors to develop repair plans.
- Specify new or replacement equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Availability for a work term starting in January or May 2027.
- Intent to return to full-time studies following the work term.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, academic success, and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Reader, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
