About the role#
The Co-Op Operator role in Beaumont involves the safe and efficient operation of processing units and related facilities. This position requires working 12-hour rotating shifts and may include overtime work. Please note that this position requires the completion of a pre-employment Operations and Mechanical assessment by June 21, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the startup and shutdown of units and systems, including pumps, furnaces, and compressors.
- Inspect equipment and work areas to identify leaks, vibration, or overheating using sensory observations.
- Collect and record data for temperature, pressure, levels, and flow rates.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance, such as adding lubricants, changing filters, and tightening valve packing, under the guidance of a qualified operator.
- Adjust local process parameters and equipment to maintain product specifications.
- Communicate with the console supervisor regarding process conditions and any necessary changes.
- Inspect safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, hoses, and breathing apparatus.
- Assist with seasonal equipment winterization and summarization tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College - Orange, or Lamar State College - Port Arthur.
- A 2-year Process Operator degree or equivalent experience.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools.
