About the role#
This is a 12-month co-op placement beginning in January 2027. You will join the Research & Development Engineering Department to support the design, prototyping, and manufacturing transfer of medical devices. The role involves direct participation in clinical research studies and the regulatory approval process.
What you'll do#
- Build and test device prototypes using 3D modeling.
- Design and execute verification and validation testing.
- Prepare regulatory filings for government bodies.
- Support clinical trials and coordinate with external suppliers and clinicians.
- Develop technical documentation including drawings and work instructions.
- Monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams while maintaining a focus on patient safety and product quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering degree program.
- Previous experience in a lab or engineering test environment using standard measurement tools.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical reports, drawings, or work instructions.
- Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in product design or development.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and Minitab is preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 and experience in highly regulated manufacturing environments are assets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to work.
Location & details#
- Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, requiring at least three days per week in the office.
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid co-op.
