About the role#
Join the Manufacturing Engineering team at Sonova Group to gain practical experience with custom in-the-ear hearing products. This co-op role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing technologies. You will design experiments, evaluate results, and contribute to process-engineering projects. This position is based in Kitchener and requires primarily on-site work due to the hands-on nature of the laboratory and manufacturing responsibilities, though occasional remote days may be possible.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and optimization of manufacturing technologies for custom hearing products.
- Create and execute test plans for additive manufacturing, surface technologies, and joining processes.
- Perform measurements, analyze test results, and write technical test reports.
- Assist with the evaluation and improvement of manual assembly processes.
- Create work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Take ownership of assigned work packages from planning through completion.
- Operate 3D printers and support practical laboratory and manufacturing testing.
- Collaborate with partners across Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Production.
- Help standardize manufacturing processes across platforms.
- Benchmark and optimize existing manufacturing technologies.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- Comfortable performing hands-on testing and laboratory work.
- Ability to understand and analyze complex technical concepts.
- Capacity to translate technical findings into practical solutions.
- Determined and able to work independently.
- Precise, organized, and structured approach to tasks.
- Strong interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident communication skills in English and the ability to work well in collaborative, intercultural teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
