About the role#
The R&D Systems Intern works with the R&D Engineering team to design medical devices. You will participate in testing and create technical documentation. This is a 6-month internship position.
What you'll do#
- Research, develop, design, and evaluate electrical and electro-mechanical materials, components, and assemblies.
- Conduct feasibility studies to verify functionality and capability.
- Develop new concepts from initial design through to market release.
- Coordinate project activities and direct support personnel.
- Maintain detailed documentation across all research and development phases.
- Improve processes and work methodologies using agile and lean principles.
- Contribute to software and system risk assessments, including Design FMEA activities.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with product development in a regulated industry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Excellent organizational and collaboration skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English.
- Preferred: Experience with integrated systems, systems engineering principles, and troubleshooting complex products.
- Preferred: Exposure to cross-functional product development through internships, co-ops, or student design teams.
