About the role#
This is a 12-month paid co-op placement beginning in Winter 2027. You will join the Research & Development Engineering Department, where the focus is on the ideation, design, prototyping, and manufacturing transfer of medical devices. You will work on regulatory approvals, patents, and clinical research studies.
What you'll do#
- Assist in device development through prototyping, testing, and 3D modeling.
- Create and conduct verification and validation testing.
- Prepare regulatory filings for government bodies.
- Support clinical trials and coordinate with external suppliers and clinicians.
- Develop technical documentation including drawings and work instructions.
- Monitor safety practices to ensure ISO 13485 and FDA compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines.
- Maintain a commitment to patient safety and product quality.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering degree program.
- Experience in laboratory or engineering test environments using standard measurement tools.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation such as reports and drawings.
- Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in product design, testing, or development.
- Interest in biomedical technology and a hands-on approach.
- Communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Minitab, Six Sigma, or LEAN methodologies.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and highly regulated manufacturing environments.

- Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (requires at least three days per week in the office).
