About the role#
BMO Capital Markets offers a 10-week summer internship for students pursuing a Master's degree in quantitative fields. You will be integrated into a specific desk within the Global Markets group, such as Equity Sales and Trading, Prime Finance, or Global Markets Engineering. The program begins with one week of onboarding and training, followed by a matching process to assign you to a desk based on your skills and preferences. You will have access to professional development activities including teach-ins, trading games, and meetings with senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Develop and deploy business solutions, including pricing and risk models.
- Handle market data capture and display, plus spreadsheet development.
- Provide insight into trading strategies through quantitative modeling.
- Improve existing technology related to system infrastructure, internal reporting, and presentations.
- Conduct bespoke research and data analytics for markets, portfolios, or clients.
- Develop new trade ideas for clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's program for Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date in December 2027 or Spring 2028.
- Proficiency in C++, Java, Matlab, Python, R, or Scala.
- Strong academic background in mathematics.
- Interest in financial markets and a desire to work in an intense, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
