About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the health insurance industry. You will join the Strategic Informatics team to analyze healthcare claims and authorization data. Your work helps evaluate program performance, identify utilization trends, and generate insights that support business decisions. You will also participate in networking events, department meetings, and community outreach activities to build your professional network.
What you'll do#
- Support the Strategic Informatics team by extracting, validating, and analyzing complex datasets.
- Create reports and data visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to reconcile data, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accuracy.
- Assist management in identifying business problems and implementing solutions.
- Work on projects aimed at improving organizational efficiency.
- Maintain an understanding of company products, programs, and organizational structure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Analytics, Data Science, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience with SQL and proficiency in Python or R.
- Familiarity with data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for working with large datasets.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain confidential information.
