About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to support our client base. This role provides hands-on experience in tax practices and allows you to build professional relationships while applying your academic background to real-world tasks.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and extensions while ensuring compliance with firm policies and tax authorities.
- Use tax software to complete simple returns and perform quarterly estimates.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Assist with income tax provisions and apply firm policies regarding ASC 740, FAS 109, and FIN 48.
- Gather tax information using online research tools and monitor developments in tax law.
- Help respond to notices from the Internal Revenue Service and assist with year-end filing projections.
- Identify methods to maximize client benefits and communicate findings to your team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a related field.
- A preference for candidates pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting.
- Active progress toward the credits required for CPA licensure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work well in a team, follow instructions, and maintain a positive attitude toward learning.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Omaha, Nebraska.
- The term for this position is Summer 2027.
