About the role#
This Summer 2027 internship in Core Tax Services offers a hands-on perspective on tax practices. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare returns and extensions. This role is designed to help you build professional relationships and gain practical experience in an accounting environment.
What you'll do#
- Prepare simple tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions using tax software.
- Assist with responses to IRS notices and the projection of year-end filings.
- Collect data to meet filing requirements and monitor impending due dates.
- Apply firm policies and the Tax Quality Manual to ensure compliance with authorities.
- Use referencing systems and workpapers to organize files and minimize rework.
- Assist with components of income tax provisions and apply policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Gather tax information using online research tools and monitor developments in tax law.
- Communicate relevant findings to the client service team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a related field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow instructions.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
