About the role#
Doeren Mayhew offers a hands-on accounting internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will work alongside professionals to gain experience in either audit or tax service groups. The program runs from January 2027 through April 16, 2027. You will work on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
What you'll do#
If you join an audit team, you will work on engagement teams to complete audits, reviews, and compilations. You will travel to client sites, compile and analyze financial information, test and document business transactions, and prepare financial statements. You will gain exposure to 8-12 client engagements across various industries.
If you join a tax team, you will work with tax professionals on an array of returns. You will assist with the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns, conduct tax research, and work on tax projections using information provided by audit staff or clients.
What you'll need#
You must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting. We prefer candidates who have completed at least one intermediate accounting course by Spring 2027. You should have a 3.0 GPA in both your cumulative record and your accounting major. We look for candidates who have a strong drive for a career in public accounting, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to take initiative. You should have excellent communication skills, time management skills, and a high degree of curiosity. Previous work experience is preferred. We prefer the ability to work 25-40+ hours per week.
