About the role#
James Moore & Co. offers paid accounting internships across four tracks: Accounting Controllership Services (ACS), Audit, Tax, and Tax Admin. These roles provide hands-on experience in a professional accounting firm. Interns work directly with team members to support client operations and gain exposure to industry-standard software.
What you'll do#
- Use accounting software for client data entry, task management, and documentation.
- Assist with daily functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Review journal entries and various financial transactions.
- Perform audit procedures across financial statement areas such as cash, inventory, fixed assets, debt, and income statement items.
- Propose adjusting journal entries when discrepancies are identified.
- Prepare individual income tax returns and assist with business tax returns for partnerships and corporations.
- Support staff with large tax engagements and complex client files.
- Organize and maintain files, review forms for accuracy, and assist with administrative processes.
- Research accounting topics and ensure regulatory compliance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technical platforms.
- Successful completion or current enrollment in Tax I, Audit I, or equivalent coursework is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Gainesville, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Availability: Applicants must be able to work on-site at least 20 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 hours per day.
- Terms: Positions are available for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027.
- Legal: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.
